Kertas of Materials and Manufacturing Science (KMMS) is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. We are committed to ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the peer-review and publishing process. Any form of publication malpractice is strictly prohibited, and all reasonable steps will be taken to prevent, identify, and address misconduct.
KMMS serves the scientific and engineering community by publishing original, high-quality work that contributes to the fields of materials and manufacturing science. We expect the same ethical commitment from our authors, reviewers, and editorial team. The journal adheres to the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and maintains best practices in managing ethical issues, retractions, and corrections.
Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for selecting manuscripts based on originality, scientific merit, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on the authors’ race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation.

Editors must ensure a rigorous, impartial, and confidential peer-review process.

Editors must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to anyone outside the editorial and review process.

Editors must avoid any conflicts of interest and must not use unpublished material for their own research.

Editors are responsible for preserving the integrity of the academic record by issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when needed, and by investigating all claims of misconduct thoroughly and fairly.
Editorial Board Responsibilities

Editorial board members must maintain strict confidentiality for all manuscript submissions.

They must declare any conflicts of interest and abstain from editorial decisions where such conflicts exist.

Board members are expected to evaluate content solely on scholarly merit and ensure editorial procedures are applied consistently and transparently.
Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential and must not disclose or discuss them with third parties.

Reviews should be objective, evidence-based, and constructive, offering helpful feedback to authors.

Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited and inform the editors of any suspected plagiarism or ethical concerns.

Reviewers unable to meet deadlines or who have a conflict of interest should promptly inform the editorial office.

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in cases of potential conflict due to personal, financial, or institutional relationships with the authors.
Author Responsibilities

Authors must submit only original work that adheres to ethical standards and relevant regulations.

The manuscript must not be published elsewhere or under consideration by another journal.

All listed authors should have made a significant contribution to the research and must agree to take full responsibility for its content.

Proper citation of others' work is mandatory, and any sources of funding or potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

Authors must describe their research methodology clearly and provide sufficient information to allow replication of results.

If a significant error or inaccuracy is identified in a published article, authors must immediately notify the editorial team to correct the published record.
Copyright and Licensing
By submitting a manuscript to KMMS, authors confirm that the work is original and unpublished. Upon acceptance, copyright is transferred to the publisher. KMMS supports open access publication, and all articles are distributed under a Creative Commons license, allowing free and global access to published content.
A copyright transfer form is available for download and must be completed and submitted upon acceptance.
