Guide for Authors

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts via the KMMS online submission system:

Please use the official KMMS manuscript template.

Authors are encouraged to write directly within the template to maintain consistency and formatting standards.


2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted

  • Full Research Articles (3,500–8,000 words; min. 10 pages; ≥20 references)

  • Review Articles (4,000–10,000 words; ≥100 references)

  • Case Reports / Technical Notes (1,500–2,000 words; ≥40 references)


3. Manuscript Format and Structure

  • Page: A4

  • Margins: 30mm (top/left/right), 25mm (bottom)

  • Format: Single-spaced, single-column, Times New Roman, 12pt

  • Alignment: Justified, with page numbers

  • Greek Characters: Use ‘Symbol’ font

  • Language: Clear and fluent English

Required Sections:

  • Title Page

  • Abstract (max 250 words)

  • Keywords (3–6 terms)

  • Highlights (optional, max 5 bullet points, 100 characters each)

  • Graphical Abstract (optional)

  • Introduction

  • Materials and Methods

  • Results and Discussion

  • Conclusions

  • Acknowledgements

  • Conflict of Interest

  • Author Contributions

  • References (IEEE Style)

  • Appendices

  • Figures and Tables (embedded in-text)

  • Supplementary Materials (optional)


4. Title & Author Information

Use descriptive, specific titles (no abbreviations or formulas).
List all authors' full names and affiliations with superscript numerals.
The corresponding author must be indicated with an asterisk (*) and include complete contact information.


5. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract: Concise summary of objectives, methods, findings, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: 3–6 terms relevant for indexing and discoverability.


6. Optional Elements

  • Highlights: 3–5 bullet points emphasizing novelty or significance.

  • Graphical Abstract: A visual summary (recommended format: TIFF, EPS, PDF, Office; size ~50 x 130 mm at 96 dpi).


7. Section Guidelines

  • Introduction: Background, rationale, and objectives.

  • Materials and Methods: Sufficient detail for reproducibility; cite previous protocols where applicable.

  • Results and Discussion: May be combined; focus on interpretation and relevance.

  • Conclusion: Summarize key findings and implications.


8. Abbreviations and Units

Define all abbreviations on first use.
Use SI units; if not, provide SI equivalents.


9. Acknowledgements & Funding

Acknowledge all funding sources and grants.
If none, state:

“This study was not supported by any grants from funding bodies in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors.”


10. Conflict of Interest Statement

Disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts.
If none, use:

“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”


11. Author Contributions

Use CRediT taxonomy, e.g.:

  • M.H. Hammoud (Conceptualization; Writing – original draft; Supervision)

  • Q. Benshi (Data curation; Methodology; Review & editing)


12. References Style (IEEE)

Use numbered references in [brackets] as they appear.
Follow IEEE citation format for all sources: journals, books, conferences, etc.
Use “et al.” for more than six authors.


13. Appendices, Figures, and Tables

  • Appendices: Label as A, B, etc. (e.g., Eq. A.1, Table A.1).

  • Figures: High resolution (300–600 dpi); caption below, centered.

  • Tables: Editable format; numbered sequentially; caption above.


14. Supplementary Material

May include datasets, videos, or extended data.
Must complement the article and cannot be altered after publication.


15. Reproduction Permission

Authors must obtain and provide proof of permission for any reused or previously published content.


16. Peer-Review Process

  • Initial editorial screening for scope and quality

  • Single-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers

  • Authors must suggest 3 reviewers with valid institutional emails


17. Language & Plagiarism

Manuscripts must be in professional English.
All submissions are screened using Turnitin for plagiarism.


18. Online First Policy

Accepted papers will be published online ahead of issue assignment.
No changes allowed post-publication.


19. Self-Citation Policy

Limit self-citations to no more than 5 references or 20%, whichever is lower.


20. Galley Proofs

Authors receive proofs for typographical corrections only.
Proofs must be returned within 72 hours.


21. Copyright

Authors retain copyright.
KMMS holds the right to publish and designate KertasSci as the original publisher.


22. Publication Fees

There are no article processing or publication charges.
All accepted manuscripts are published free of charge.


23. Length Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • 3,500 words (excluding references/appendices)

  • 10 pages


24. Submission Checklist

Before submission, ensure the following:

  • Corresponding author is clearly designated

  • Full author details and affiliations included

  • Manuscript is formatted using the KMMS template

  • All figures, tables, and captions are embedded and labeled

  • Keywords are provided

  • Supplementary files (if any) are uploaded
