Publication Ethics and Responsibilities

Kertas of Engineering and Applied Science (KEAS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. The journal ensures integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the peer-review and publication process. KEAS strictly prohibits all forms of publication malpractice and takes all reasonable steps to prevent and address any ethical misconduct.

KEAS serves the global scientific and engineering community by publishing original, high-quality research in engineering and applied sciences. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold the same commitment to ethical standards. The journal follows the principles and best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including procedures for addressing retractions, corrections, and ethical concerns.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Editors are responsible for selecting manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the scope of KEAS.

  • Editorial decisions are made impartially and without consideration of authors’ race, gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, political views, or institutional affiliation.

  • Editors must ensure a rigorous, fair, and confidential peer-review process.

  • Confidentiality of manuscript content must be maintained at all times, shared only with individuals involved in the review and publication process.

  • Editors must avoid conflicts of interest and refrain from using unpublished content for personal research purposes.

  • Editors are responsible for upholding the integrity of the journal by issuing corrections or retractions as necessary and investigating any claims of misconduct.

Editorial Board Responsibilities

  • Editorial board members must treat all manuscripts as confidential and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Members must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

  • They are expected to assess submissions based on scholarly merit and help maintain transparency and consistency in the editorial workflow.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential and must not share or discuss their content with others.

  • Reviews should be objective, constructive, and based on sound academic judgment, offering clear feedback to improve the work.

  • Reviewers must alert editors to any suspected plagiarism, ethical concerns, or uncited relevant work.

  • If unable to complete the review in a timely manner or if a conflict of interest arises, reviewers should notify the editorial team promptly.

  • Reviewers must avoid evaluating manuscripts where personal or institutional conflicts of interest exist.

Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must submit original, ethically conducted work and comply with applicable research standards, laws, and regulations.

  • Manuscripts submitted to KEAS must not be under consideration or previously published elsewhere.

  • All contributing authors must be accurately listed, and all contributors must take full responsibility for the content.

  • Authors must properly cite the work of others and disclose any financial support or potential conflicts of interest.

  • Research methods must be clearly described to allow replication and validation by others.

  • Authors who identify significant errors in their published work must inform the editorial office immediately so that corrections can be issued if needed.

Copyright and Licensing

By submitting a manuscript to KEAS, authors affirm that the content is original and has not been published elsewhere. Upon acceptance, authors agree to transfer copyright to the publisher. KEAS publishes all articles under a Creative Commons license to ensure open access and broad dissemination of knowledge.

A copyright transfer form will be made available and must be completed upon acceptance of the manuscript.
